Mon Sept 8 (Day 3)
Rolla, Missouri to Joplin, Missouri
Beautiful rolling hill through Devils Elbow, then a Police escort all the way through Springfield, Missouri, lunch at Gary Turners place and a very special BBQ sponsored by Chris Byers manager of the Hilton Express in Joplin. We should arrive in Joplin by 5:30pm.
Today could be one of my most favorite rides. We go through the rolling hills of Missouri and when we started it was 58 degrees just the ideal temp for a ride. We made our way to Strafford and picked a police escort that took us all the way through Springfield, Missouri west of Old Route 66 to the county line. Had a great picnic at Gary Turner's place with everyone just relaxing and enjoying the nice breeze because the cool weather had gotten hot. From Gary's every just followed Old Route 66 or their road of choice (some were really hot and head to the motel). Most Riders were in the motel by 5 and had time to cool down and attend the FANTASTIC bbq that Chris Byers and his staff put together. At the dinner we sold raffle tickets and gave away a verity of gifts. Now you set back and enjoy our Ride.
